Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do I ask questions about course content?
Questions may be asked by sending a message directly to the instructor. Click the envelope positioned on the header and inbox your questions.
2. How does the assessment process work?
There are three (3) types of assessments: quizzes, assignments and exams. Quizzes have questions in a variety of formats; free response, multiple choice, true-false, polls or confidence questions. They are strictly for self assessment. All assignments are graded by the instructor, and the assignment format is designed at the discretion of the instructor. Exams are multiple choice and real-time grading occurs. Additionally, a minimum score is set for passing or failing, it may be timed and multiple opportunities may be given to re-take the exam if necessary.
3. How is STEM Skills different from other online course platforms?
STEM Skills is focused on the individual categories of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) topics; from basic to advanced levels. The digital content is visually rich with animations and graphics, and the modules are all narrated and annotated by the instructor for a more personal learning experience. Course content can be presented in multiple ways: video, eBooks (can be created on the platform), audio, pdf, Soundcloud, YouTube, embeds, etc.
The platform also has a variety of features to engage the learner such as social learning tools, a Daily News feed with real-time relevant STEM content that can be shared to the internal STEM Skills community and also externally via Twitter.
